May the New Year bring with it all the best for you and yours!
Feliz Año Nuevo Padres!
Our first lesson of the New Year, “Los Cinco Patitos,” presents your little linguist with math concepts such as sorting, matching and subtraction as each little duck travels “over the hill and far away.” The classic story of the “Five Little Ducks” is one that your child will love hearing over and over even in Spanish. Accompanied with age appropriate activities this lesson is sure to provide a quality learning experience for all types of learners.
By now your baby has serenaded you with at least one greeting or counting song they have learned in class. Visit our site (www.lingualkids.com ) and find out about the great music we use to accompany our class lessons. We love Boca Beth and so do our students, and by purchasing the product from our site you help Lingual Kids with our mission of providing quality affordable language programming in our community.

My family
Feliz Año Nuevo Padres!
Our first lesson of the New Year, My Family, sets us on a journey as we learn new vocabulary and explore family life in the US and Peru. In addition to identifying family members we will look at daily activities performed at home and build simple sentences in the target language. As we continue toward our goal of reading 4-5 letter words in Spanish we will sharpen our knowledge of the alphabet and continue working on blending letter sounds, with specific study of the letters L,T,D,R,and C. In this lesson we punch up the FUN factor with lessons that create opportunities to move, act, sing and create while learning Spanish.
By now your child has serenaded you with at least one greeting or counting song they have learned in class. Feliz Año Nuevo Padres!
This time of the year brings a sense of fresh starts and new beginnings. What goals have you set for Spanish this year? Is it to encourage your child to be more diligent, intentional or focused in his Spanish studies, maybe youve set a new goal to watch one Spanish language TV show a week with your child. Perhaps a new family computer or iPad will give your child an opportunity to stay connected to the language online. Whatever your aspiration, set an obtainable goal and be consistent. Acquiring a second language takes time and hard work but with the great foundation you are laying at an early age your child is sure to have an advantage in the long run.
Establishing a system of regular check-ins with your student is a great way to measure progress. Set some time aside each week and review the class material. Encourage your child to teach you a mini lesson, it will help reinforce his skills and you may learn something in the process. The most important goal is to stay connected.
It is now a great time to consider whether a summer vacation to a Spanish speaking country, summer tutoring or even a Summer Spanish Camp is an option for your family. Visit our website regularly to find out about additional language opportunities in Atlanta and beyond.
In class this semester, we will continue working through our Vale Series and Real Spanish Now Book. In addition, we will highlight Peru in our culture focused lessons. Buckle down and get ready to go, you and your child are on an amazing journey. Thanks for bringing Lingual Kids along!
May the New Year bring with it all the best for you and yours!
